Experience the Joy of Growing Roses

Helping you to grow great roses!

EXPERIENCE THE JOY OF GROWING ROSES!
Picture
Interesting & informative programs and events!
The Manhattan Rose Society holds meetings and events featuring informative programs with world renowned Rose Experts, Garden Tours, Dinners and more!  Our meetings with speakers will continue to be virtual via GoToMeeting for the foreseeable future.  Before the pandemic our Annual Dinner meeting was held at a fine restaurant in Manhattan. We also held private garden tours, a Wine & Roses event in the summer and our Annual Holiday Open House in December.  While we anticipate our meetings with speakers to continue virtually, we hope to return to in person events in the near future.

We publish at least 7 issues of our e-newsletter, Skyscrapers & Roses, per year.

New members receive a FREE 4-Month Trial Membership to the American Rose Society! Joining or renewing is easy! Visit our "Storefront" page.

March Meeting  Thursday, March 9, 2023, 7pm EST, via Zoom.  Featuring Rene Schmitz presenting:  The Creation of a Rose Plant...Footprints in the Rose Fields at Palatine Roses
Rene and Eva Schmitz immigrated from Switzerland in 1988, changing from mixed mountain farming to dairy in Listowel, Ontario. After 10 years the move to balmy Niagara happened and therefore the switch to tender fruit farming plus fruit tree nursery. In the year 2001 the roses were added, first in rather low numbers, which changed quickly in what it is today, a retail mail order operation with rose plants being sent all over North America and beyond.
Palatine Roses works with the most renowned Rose hybridizes in the world and strives to offer beauty and health combined. The Rose breeders advance in their efforts to create disease free roses; we follow suit to grow them for Rose gardeners everywhere.
Many times, we are asked to increase production in our fields since the demand regularly outweighs the amount of plants we grow. The inner quality of our plants is dear to us. The many hours we spend in fields with our roses allows us to tend them well and without cutting corners. We like to keep doing it that way and for the time offer the best we can grow in the current amounts. Roses are our friends, and so are the many people we share them with.
